SUMMER FETE AT ALL SAINTS THEYDON GARNON
All Saints Theydon Garnon will be holding their Summer Fete on Sunday 2nd June from 11.00a.m. until 5.00p.m.
We need volunteers, so please put your names and times you can help on the 2 sheets at the back of the Church and in the Gatehouse. All help greatly appreciated, so please keep this date free.
ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETINGS (APCM)
The APCM for each parish in the Benefice will take place as follows: Parish of Stapleford Tawney and Theydon Mount, Sunday 7th April at St Mary's ST immediately after 10.30a.m. service; Parish of Theydon Bois St Mary, Wednesday 24th April at 7.30p.m. in St Mary's TB, Parish of Theydon Garnon All Saints, Thursday 25th April at 8p.m. in the Gatehouse. These are important opportunities to reflect on the last year and pray, plan and dream dreams for the future and elect Churchwardens, Deanery Synod and PCC members where vacancies occur. Please come along and have your say at the APCM for your church, and speak to the Vicar in the first instance if you would like to stand in the elections.
There is an opportunity to be Confirmed by the Bishop of Chelmsford in the cathedral on Saturday 20th April at 7p.m. Could anyone who is interested in making a commitment to following Jesus in this way, speak to one of the clergy.
BENEFICE LENT COURSE
Our clergy will be leading a 5 week Lent Course for the Benefice based on Stephen Cottrell's book "The Nail". The book is a series of reflections on the events leading up to Good Friday, and each week we will discuss a chapter of the book. There will be a daytime group on Wednesdays at 10.30a.m. beginning on 13thMarch in St Mary's TB and an evening group on Thursdays at 8p.m. beginning on 7thMarch at the Theydon Garnon Vicarage. All participants will need a copy of the book which costs £6.99, and can be obtained via the Benefice office.
DIOCESE OF CHELMSFORD LENT APPEAL
The Bishop of Chelmsford's Lent appeal this year is to support the work of St Andrew's College of Theology and Development in Kabare in developing vocational training courses for the people of the Mount Kenya region. THE ANNUAL REYNOLDS LECTURE AT ST JOHN'S, EPPING
The Annual Reynolds Lecture is an annual event held at St John's, Epping to which a visiting speaker is invited. This year, the event will take place on Wednesday 10th April 8.00p.m.and the speaker will be the Archbishop's Adviser for the Anglican Communion, Bishop Anthony Poggo who is originally from South Sudan.
HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE
The Rev Sally Lynch is leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land this coming September (17th – 26th), staying in Jerusalem and Galilee. There are a few places left and anyone who would like to join in is more than welcome. For further details contact Sally at email@example.com
GROUPS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
Sunday groups for children and young people in the Benefice resume next week. At All Saints TG groups take place on 2nd and 3rd Sundays of each month, and at St Mary’s TB on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. At St Mary’s TB children in year 3 and above are invited to consider joining the choir, please contact Hugh Meteyard for more information.
WESTMINSTER ABBEY PARISH PASS
The Benefice Office now holds a parish passes for each church in our group. Each pass can be used on 6 occasions, and allows a group of up for 4 people entry for free each time. Passes can be borrowed from Sarah Bowen.
